Frequently Asked Questions
What temperature should my home pool be heated to for lessons before the summer?
92 degrees F is the ideal temperature for lessons starting before the summer season. We will perform outdoor lessons if the outside air temperature is above 65 degrees and the pool is heated to at least 90. When water temperatures are below 90, your child will most likely not be comfortable while taking swim lessons, thus not allowing for an ideal lesson. The warmer the water is, the better your child will perform!
What Should Each Swimmer Have For Each Swim Lesson?
Towel
Water Shoes (to wear before and after lessons ex: flip flops, crocs, sandals)
Goggles – recommended, but not required
Swim Cap – Recommended for long hair (if not, please tie hair back)
A swimsuit that is conducive to learning to swim:
Females – a one piece swimsuit or sports bra with a dry-fit shirt and workout shorts (bikini swimsuits are not advised)
Males – swim shorts or board shorts with a drawstring (basketball shorts are not advised)
Last, but certainly not least…. A positive attitude! Children feed off of the behavior and attitude they see from adults. Remember to encourage your child before and after swim lessons! Learning to swim should be a positive experience – so please encourage each swimmer to always do their best, listen to instructions, and be safe while having fun!
What Will Each Student Learn?
In our classes, students will learn techniques to perform competitive swim strokes. Each class builds upon the skills taught in the previous one. Learning to swim is not a skill you can properly learn in one day, but is a process that involves learning specific techniques and then building upon those. Feet2Fins is adamant about every student mastering the core fundamentals of swimming so that a solid foundation is built. We start at basic techniques and from there more advanced skills are taught.
How do I register my child for lessons?

Where Do Lessons Take Place?
This is one of the best things about our lessons. We come to you! You or your children can learn how to swim in your own backyard or in a public pool near your house. There is virtually no traveling time for you. If you do not have a pool, we will provide a pool or use a pool convenient to your location.
When Do Lessons Take Place?
We arrange the most convenient time and place for you when you book an appointment. If you can only book lessons after work or have a tight schedule we can work around that as well. Our hours of operation are flexible. Swimming lessons can be arranged early in the morning, mid day, early in the afternoon or late in the evening.
Can I Leave My Child With The Instructor While I Run Errands?
Feet2Fins teaches private swim lessons, but is not a babysitting service. Please remain within earshot of your child for the duration of all swim lessons. Some students learn best while parents are not watching, but it is essential for a parent, guardian, or nanny to be nearby at all times.
Is There An Age Limit?
Absolutely not! Our customers range from being a small children to seniors. We believe that it is never to early or too late for a person to learn how to swim. Each year hundreds of people drown due to not knowing how to swim. Most of these accidents happen in public & private pools, lakes and beaches. The summertime is when most drowning deaths happen due to students being off from school and people in general engaging in more water-related activities. Children are not the only group susceptible to drowning. Adults who are inexperienced, or who have had traumatic experiences are at a high risk for drowning as well. Each year hundreds of children and adults become victims to water related deaths.
When is the best time to start?
Feet2Fins has the philosophy that the best time to start learning how to swim is NOW! We have experience teaching infants as young as 3 months, to adults at the age of 88.
What are your hours of operation?
Feet2Fins works with each swimmer on an individual basis. We are available by request on any given day. Winter Break, Spring Break and other holidays are a great time to catch up on swimming.
